Steam locomotive D51 498, one of the standard articles from Kato, is produced again now with leading and trailing wheels spoked.
D51 489 was manufactured in 1940 and put in service across Japan before it was decommissioned in 1972. 14 years later in 1988 it was preserved in working condition to show a steam locomotive of the heyday.
The N scale model is based on the D51 498 as the prototype which belonged to Takasaki locomotive depot around 2008.
