Information
The 14 series 500 series (seat car) is a vehicle that was converted from the 14 series limited express passenger car, which was used for temporary limited express trains and express trains, to the express passenger car in Hokkaido, which had been urgently replaced due to deterioration. Since 1980, 59 cars have crossed the Tsugaru Strait due to cold weather and snow resistant construction such as enhanced heating and customer doors (folding doors → sliding doors). After crossing the road, it was used for express trains such as "Niseko" and "Soya" in Hokkaido, and it was also used in the night express trains in combination with the cold-resistant 14 series sleeper passenger car.
