Information
Hokutosei is a sleeper limited express train between Ueno and Sapporo that appeared when the Seikan Tunnel was opened in 1988, and has gained popularity since the start of operation as a luxury sleeper train connecting private sleeping rooms, lobby cars, and dining cars.
JR East and JR Hokkaido operated the two companies, and the specifications of each train were different, so the variety of trains was plentiful due to the modification of the 24 series passenger car.
It has been active as a train connecting Tokyo and Hokkaido for many years, but with the opening of the Hokkaido Shinkansen, it was regrettably put to an end in 2015.
