The 12th Series Passenger Car that appeared in 1969 was towed by steam locomotives, electric locomotives, and diesel locomotives because it could be used as a towing machine, and was used for wave transportation of temporary trains and group trains. At the time of its appearance in 1970, the Osaka World Exposition was used to transport a large number of spectators.
Series 12 passenger cars belonging to the JR East Takasaki Rolling Stock Center are active in various event trains and are towed by C61-20, EF65-501, EF60-19.
The Suhaf 12 is a vehicle manufactured later, and has a different shape of the hood and the cabin window.
